インマヌエル新生教会について / About Immanuel Shinsei Church

インマヌエル新生教会（ISC）は、日本聖公会の東京教区の中で2019年１月に創立された最も新しい教会です。「インマヌエル」とは「神われらと共にいます」という意味です。「聖公会」は英国国教会の流れを汲む、世界で３番目に信徒数の多いキリスト教派です。

当教会は、地域的に隣接していた池袋聖公会（豊島区）、東京聖マルチン教会（板橋区）、練馬聖ガブリエル教会（練馬区）の三つが、地域の宣教を目指して合併・創立されました。

聖堂と牧師館からなる当教会の建物は、2021年8月に旧練馬聖ガブリエル教会の跡地に完成しました。これまでの概念にとらわれない「空に十字架を掲げた聖堂」は、三つの教会にルーツを持つ新教会が、新しい宣教への思いを形にしたものです。

練馬区小竹町の静かな住宅街にあります。教会の最寄り駅は、小竹向原駅（東京メトロ有楽町線、副都心線、西武有楽町線）と西武池袋線の江古田駅で、交通至便で、信徒の居住地域は上記３区にとどまりません。

当教会を拠点に活動するボーイスカウト練馬５団は、1965年（昭和40）にこの地で生まれ、地域で大変親しまれています。また、日曜日の午後には、在日ミャンマー人の団体「ビルマ集会」が聖堂で毎週礼拝を行っています。

Immanuel Shinsei Church (ISC) was founded in January 2019, making it the newest church in the Tokyo Diocese of the Nihon Seikokai (NSKK).

In order to better serve the wider local community, the church was newly formed out of three previously independent churches: Ikebukuro Seikokai (in Toshima-ku), St. Martin’s Church, Tokyo (in Itabashi-ku), and Nerima St. Gabriel’s Church (in Nerima-ku). “Immanuel” means “God with us”, while the Japanese word “Shinsei” means “new life” or “new birth”, referring to the church’s formation.

The present church and adjoining rectory were completed in August 2021 on the site of Nerima St. Gabriel’s Church. The foundation and mission of the church are symbolised in its architectural design. In the centre of the wide triangular window above the altar is a large steel cross, reflecting the view of trees and sky. The cross was discovered in the grounds of the previous Ikebukuro Seikokai. It acts as a focus point, the three sides of its window reminding us of the Holy Trinity, as well as the original three churches which combined to start their new mission in this part of Tokyo.

The quiet suburb in which the church stands can be easily reached from the areas served by the three previous churches, although some members of the congregation come from further afield. The church is also home to the 5th Nerima Group of the Tokyo scouts, which has been active here since 1965. We are also proud to host the weekly Sunday afternoon worship of the Burmese Christian Fellowship (BCF), and strong friendships have developed between members of the two congregations.

韓国ソウル出身。20歳までハードロッカーを目指しバンド活動をしていたが、海軍下士官の時、父の死によって召命を受け、神学の勉強を開始。
教会での奉仕者としての道は「自分で選んだわけではなく、神様から選ばせていただいた恵みである」と信じ、修行に励む毎日。
最近関心を持っているのは「キリスト者の霊性」。趣味は「うるさい音楽を聞き、演奏する」こと。

Rev. Tahk was born in Seoul, South Korea. He received his calling from God, and decided to train for the ministry, on the sudden death of his father. At that time he was still in his twenties and was a conscript petty officer in the South Korean Navy. Until then he had played in a heavy rock band and had been hoping for a future as a rock star.
He believes that his role as a servant in the church was not something that he chose himself. Rather, he sees it as a blessing chosen for him by God, a belief which sustains him in his ministry. Recently, he says that he is particularly interested in “the spirituality of Christians”. His hobbies are “listening to, and playing, extremely loud music.”

In addition to the church seasons, and the festivals of Christmas, Easter and so on, which are common to all churches in the Anglican Communion, there are certain special events which take place annually at Immanuel Shinsei Church.

新年礼拝・成人祝福式
The New Year Service and the Coming of Age Blessings

１月１日に、新年と「主イエス命名の日」を祝う礼拝を行います。成人の日前後の主日礼拝の中で、新成人を祝福する式があります。礼拝後はボーイスカウト練馬第5団と共に餅つきをしてお祝いします。

The Japanese new year celebrations and the January Coming of Age Day national holiday are marked with special services at the church and celebrated with the making of “mochi” rice cakes by the 5th Nerima Group of scouts.

創立記念日

教会の創立記念日（創立2019年1月1日）を祝い、記念礼拝を行います。

大斎節・聖週

灰の水曜日に始まる、イースター前の謹みと節制の期間です。研修会などを行います。

イースター前の「しゅろの日曜日」からの一週間。
聖木曜日、聖金曜日、聖土曜日（イースターイブ）にはそれぞれ特別な礼拝があります。

イースター

復活祭。イエスの復活をお祝いする礼拝を行います。

聖霊降臨日

ペンテコステ。使徒たちの上に聖霊が降りたことをお祝いする礼拝を行います。

教会キャンプ・夏期研修会
The Summer Camp

８月にはキャンプを行っています。
猛暑の都内を離れ、自然の中で語らい、楽しみ、ともに礼拝を捧げます。
キャンプのない年には夏期研修があります。

Members of the congregation escape the oppressive Tokyo heat to relax, study and worship together in the countryside.

バザー・フェスタ
The Church Festival and Bazaar

フェスタ近隣の方々をお呼びしてのお祭り。素敵な品物、おいしいお食事や楽しいゲームなどもあります。収益は、助けを必要とされている方々への献金や、教会の活動のために使われます。

In early autumn the church celebrates with the local community. There is food and drink, games and other events. Income from the bazaar is given to those in need.

子ども祝福式
Children’s Blessing

１１月中旬の主日礼拝の中で、子どもを祝福する式を行います。
七五三にあたる子どもだけでなく、すべての子どもたちに。

In November in Japan, children aged three, five and seven are blessed at their local shrines. Reflecting this tradition, there is a special service at the church where all children are blessed. Those aged three, five and seven often attend dressed in traditional children’s kimono.
